Admission to TanenbaumCHAT
![]() |
Every year TanenbaumCHAT processes several hundred applications from many different schools, and from many different places in the Greater Toronto area, across North America, and from overseas. Within a relatively short time they all have to be processes, tested and interviewed. We try and make our entry process as 'user-friendly' as possible - our aim is to bring students into the school, not to discourage them. Please help us by submitting all documentation in full, and on time, and by noting carefully the following dates.

Eligibility
As a Community School, TanenbaumCHAT welcomes students:
- who are motivated to attend TanenbaumCHAT for whom we can offer a realistic academic programme at which the student has a chance of success
- whose application is submitted at the right time
- and for whom there is space in their appropriate grade
Late applications are considered at the discretion of the school, and are subject to a Late Application Fee. The Late Application Fee is not refundable, and cannot be credited against Tuition. Where a Grade is full, applicants will be placed on a waiting list and processed in strict order of receipt of application. Students applying for entry - especially in higher grades - must show that they have the prerequisites for the courses they wish to take, including the Jewish Studies/Ivrit prerequisites. In some cases, students may be required to attend a Summer School before placement is possible; they may be required to upgrade skills or knowledge before admission; and they may be accepted only on academic or other probation.
All students are required to attend an interview, and take Placement Tests in Ivrit, English, Math, and where applicable, French. A student is only placed on the school roll when a formal "OFFER OF A PLACE AT TANENBAUMCHAT" form has been issued, signed, and returned to the school, and all appropriate documentation submitted. Acceptance of a place at TanenbaumCHAT signifies family support of the ethos and values of the school, and acceptance of the school rules as set out in the Student Handbook and other documents issued from time to time.
Issuing of student timetables and admission to class at the beginning of the School Year is subject to all due Tuition and School fees having been paid by the first day of classes.
The School is currently very full, and parents are strongly advised not to delay submitting applications beyond the deadline.
